DIEGO MILITO scored a goal in each half to win the Champions League for Inter and complete an historic treble.
The Italians – coached by the wily Jose Mourinho – bossed their German opponents in all departments as they ran out comfortable winners at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeau stadium.
THE Special One beat the Speshial One then.
Jose Mourinho’s Inter are the new European champions after beating Dutch master Louis van Gaal and Bayern in a night of high drama at the Bernabeu.
Argentina star Diego Milito struck twice in either half to give Inter their first European Cup in 45 years.
And tears of joy streamed down Mourinho’s face at the end as he hugged legendary Inter skipper Javier Zanetti, who topped 15 years at the Italian giants with a European Cup on his 700th game for the Nerazzuri.
Inter completed the Treble – another amazing feat for Mourinho, and one achieved at the expense of his former club Chelsea after the Italians knocked them out in the last 16.

Arjen Roben - Out and down
‘And now together we will crown the dream’ read the giant banner at the start of the game on the side of the Inter fans.
So they did. Although the style was not quite Giorgio Armani or Versace but rather more Primark. Cheap but does the job and keeps millions happy.
In the end it’s the result that counts. At least for Mourinho and his millions of admirers around the world.
Mourinho became only the third manager to win the most prestigious club trophy in football with two different clubs six years after guiding Porto to an unlikely triumph.
He joined legends Ernst Happel and Otmar Hitzfeld in the pantheon of the game’s greats and in doing so proved once again how wrong Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was to get rid of him three years ago.
Fittingly, the former Chelsea chief is already the King of the Bernabeu just three days before he’s expected to officially take charge at Real Madrid.

Inter stuck religiously to a gameplan of three dimensions – 11 men behind the ball, lightning-quick breaks when in possession and taking Arjen Robben out with cynical fouls every time the classy winger got past his first marker.
It was cynical and cunning and it worked. The Germans, who knocked out Manchester United on the way here, prided themselves on being the team that played attractive football, accusing Mourinho and Inter of being negative.
They were right, of course, but Bayern couldn’t find a way past his granite team.
Every Inter player seemed ready to die for the cause and all obeyed the orders that Mourinho was barking from the touchline throughout the 90 minutes.
Although Inter had the upper hand in the initial exchanges it was Bayern who looked the more threatening and twice Lucio spared the Italians with timely interventions.

Jose Mourinho
After 10 minutes Robben skipped past Christian Chivu, raced down the left and squared to Ivica Olic.
But under pressure from Lucio, the Croat hitman fired wide from eight yards.
On 18 minutes Robben crossed, Daniel Van Buyten headed and Maicon clearly blocked with his right hand but English ref Howard Webb missed the offence.
Midway through the opening half Olic fed Thomas Muller, Lucio intervened and it fell to Robben who fired over from the edge of the box.
Immediately after Webb flashed the first yellow card to Martin DeMichelis for a challenge from behind on Diego Milito. Sneijder tried his luck again from 35 yards but it fizzed straight at Butt.
Robben then robbed Chivu who took the flying Dutchman out with a dirty challenge that led to a yellow from Webb.
Typically against the run of play, it was Inter who went in front with Milito after 35 minutes.
It was Route One football. Julio Cesar took a long kick, Milito nodded to Snejider who played it back to the Argentine and he coolly slotted past Butt.
Once Inter went ahead they retreated another 10 yards sucking Bayern forward, always ready to strike with a counter-punch.
Inter should have made it two just before the interval but Sneijder blasted straight at Butt after Milito’s brilliant square ball flat-footed Bayern’s back-line once again.
In typical Mourinho style Inter left their opponents waiting for five minutes before they re-emerged for the second half, getting a dirty look from an exasperated Webb.
It would not have been a Mourinho final without a show of gamesmanship and complete disregard to the unwritten rules of engagement – but it works and so he gets away with it.
Bayern almost made them pay immediately. Seconds after the restart Altintop put Muller through on goal but Cesar stopped with his legs sparing Inter.

Team Line-ups
Within moments Inter could have put the game to bed but Goran Pandev forced an acrobatic save from Butt.
The Germans did come close when Lucio gave the ball away in the box but Altintop’s quick-fire shot missed the target.
As the minutes ticked by it seemed clear that for all their possession and industry Bayern would be unable to find a breakthrough.
Van Gaal threw Miroslav Klose on for Altintop and immediately Muller was forcing Esteban Camibasso to clear on the six-yard line.

Robben’s curler then seemed destined for the top corner but Cesar took off to tip it over for a corner.
Then came the moment that sealed the triumph for the Italians.
Samuel Eto’o found Milito and he turned Van Buyten inside out before beating Butt to send 35,000 tifosi wild in the stands.
The Italians sang Mourinho’s name to the tune of ‘Can’t take my eyes off of you’ for five minutes as the Special One was feverishly gesticulating to his players, masterminding the historic triumph.

Mine's a treble: Jose Mourinho greets Bayern boss Louis van Gaal before kick-off knowing victory would secure a historic feat for Inter Milan
Webb’s final whistle sparked scenes of utter jubilation for Mourinho and his heroes.
Van Gaal, who gave Mourinho his first job as No 2 at Barcelona back in the 1990s had to watch stony-faced as Inter collected the trophy and savoured the glory.
This time Mourinho kept his medal – back in 2004 he threw it to the Porto fans and disappeared from view.
He’s now expected to spearhead Real Madrid’s bid for world domination starting next week.
But not before Mourinho had milked every second of his enormous success.
For the night belonged to him and Inter.

Bayern Munich Vs Inter Milan: 2010 Champions League Final Highlights, Preview and Team News
May 22nd
Bernabeu plays host to Bundesliga and Serie A title winners.
Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho says the Champions League is a bigger competition than the World Cup.
His team play Bayern Munich in the final at Madrid’s Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday, and the celebrated Portuguese coach is clear about the game’s status.
“This game is the most important in the world,” said 47-year-old Mourinho.
“It is even bigger than the World Cup because the teams in it are at a higher level than national teams, who can’t buy the best players.”
Mourinho has led Inter to their first European Cup final since 1972, when they lost to Netherlands club Ajax. It is even longer since Inter last held the cup, in 1965.
After being eliminated in the first knockout round in the previous two seasons, Inter ousted this year’s Premier League winners Chelsea, CSKA Moscow and finally defending champions Barcelona to reach Saturday’s final.
Barcelona won the second leg of the semi-final 1-0 at Camp Nou but Inter advanced to the final with a 3-2 aggregate victory.Inter were accused in some quarters of playing overly negative football in Barcelona, while others defended Mourinho’s brilliant tactics as the Catalans’ Argentine playmaker Lionel Messi was kept quiet.
Mourinho reflected: “I think that this season I haven’t seen a match like the one between Inter and Barcelona at the San Siro.
“I haven’t seen a team play the way we did. We attacked aggressively against the champions of Europe. We scored three goals against the champions of Europe.
“We won the tie in Barcelona, but everyone talks about Barcelona winning and says we parked the bus in front of the goal. We didn’t park the bus, we parked the airplane and we did it for two reasons.
“One, because we only had 10 men and two, because we beat them 3-1 at San Siro, not by parking the bus, or the boat or the airplane, but by smashing them at the San Siro.”
Both Inter and Munich will be missing important players in the first Champions League final to be held on a Saturday as each club chases unique “trebles”, having won domestic league and cup doubles.
Inter are without midfielder Thiago Motta, while Munich will line up without winger Franck Ribery. Both men were sent off in the semi-finals and as a result are suspended. (BBC Sport)
Whilst it may not be the Champions League final many had hoped for it is nonetheless true that the meeting of Inter Milan and Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu will see two of Europe’s in form teams go head to head. These two evenly matched teams have fought through some very tough encounters to get to the final and its fair to say that Saturday’s final promises to be a very tight, but potentially very exciting tie.
A year ago the idea of Bayern without Franck Ribery in the starting eleven would have left many wondering just how the Germans would cope but this season with rejuvenated Dutch winger Arjen Robben on board Louis Van Gaal should be able to deal just fine without the mercurial Frenchman. As an attacking force the Bundesliga side will take some stopping. With the likes of Thomas Muller, Ivica Olic, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Gomez pushing forward Mourinho’s back line will have to be as solid as ever to keep a clean sheet.
Clearly however Inter Milan have more than a few options of their own to unlock the Munich defence. Strike pairing Samuel Eto’o and Diego Milito are arguably one of the most deadly duos in European football and have managed 44 goals between them this season.
The San Siro outfit also have a former Real Madrid bench warmer well on the way back to firing on all cylinders. Wesley Sneijder, like Robben, has found a new lease of life away from the Bernabeu and both former Real Madrid men will greatly like to prove what they are capable of in the stadium where they both saw their careers stutter.
Here are some highlights of previous encounters between the two teams to get you well and truly in the mood.
